2022 Jeep Cherokee vs. 2022 Toyota RAV4

The 2022 Jeep Cherokee continues the legacy of Jeep excellence in the midsize SUV segment here in Ontario. Boasting the iconic capability that makes the Cherokee a Jeep, it remains incredibly popular on roads from Orillia to Toronto. However, the Cherokee is not without competitors, such as the 2022 Toyota RAV4 Trail, which attempts to match its off-road capability and robust style. Check out our comparison here at Mac Lang Orillia where we look at both the Cherokee and RAV4, and find your Cherokee here at our Highway 11 -area dealership.

Exterior Design & Features

Jeep Cherokee Design

The 2022 Cherokee retains the same iconic facelift from the 2021 model, with bold and athletic curves complementing the rugged style and capability that’s truly Jeep. The Cherokee features the classic 7-slot grille that provides the signature Jeep look, complimented by premier LED lighting to ensure you’re able to adventure in both daylight and nighttime. The Cherokee Trailhawk and Trailhawk Elite trims offer even more capability and design enhancements, including dedicated off-road tires and tow hooks for every adventure.

Toyota RAV4 Design

The 2022 Toyota RAV4 offers a bold design, with an aggressive style compared to the more luxurious-yet-capable feel of the Cherokee. While the RAV4 Trail still offers the same off-road features like tow hooks and specialized tires, it does lack the full complement of Jeep 4x4 technology to truly take advantage of the rugged design choices. Drivers should also note that the RAV4 is more loud, and has trouble filtering out that noize, compared to the Cherokee when driving down highways.

Fuel Economy

The RAV4 does deliver slightly better efficiency in terms of fuel economy compared to the Cherokee. Drivers will receive 12.2 / 8.6 / 10.6 L (city/hwy/combined) behind the wheel of the 2022 Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk and its powerful Pentastar V6. The RAV4 Trail does provide more efficient numbers with its 9.4 / 7.1 / 8.5 L (city/hwy/combined) rating, and also presents the option of a hybrid powertrain with the RAV4 Hybrid and RAV4 Prime.

Though the RAV4’s 2.5L 4-Cylinder outperforms the standard 2.4L Tigershark MultiAir engine found on the Cherokee, it’s the only available powertrain for the model (excluding the hybrid model). The varying engine lineup offered on the Cherokee gives Jeep quite the edge. The Cherokee offers both a Turbocharged 2.4L for more pace, and the capable 3.2L Pentastar V6 found in the Trailhawk and other Jeep models, for maximum capability in all situations.
